¿ WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE ARCHITECT TITLE? The fact that the medieval
texts as of century VII mentions less and less the grecism "architect" are taken
by many because they became a race in extinction danger and that, later, the
constructions took place by simple direction of the clergyman who ordered to the
work and the crafts of the construction unions, without architects "of by means
existed". Also the fact that is manipulated, in the immense majority of the
cases, it is not mentioned who designed certain building, but rather, who was
the pattern that put the factor ticket; it is thus in the case of Abbot Suger:
Who remembers or who knows who worked for him in Saint Denise?. And it is that
the Church had become pedantic, in many cases until the degree of being believed
superior to God, fact that demonstrates because since then their "theologians"
study of everything except the basic facts of the vertebral subject of the
Bible: the Celestial Kingdom; but as those apostates sucked to him as vampire
the power to the extinct Roman empire, they reached the conclusion that the
Kingdom to which the Bible makes reference already found in the Earth, and that
they were the "princes" of that system. Thus, the original meaning of
"ecclesial" almost-was buried and it was transformed into something physical,
earthly: A building like symbol of being able, a "Landmark" of all Christian
place. In this entire scheme it could not have much space to give fame to a man
(the architect) that simply was instrument of the clergyman.
Aside, the title architect no longer was own for ` architects' of the time,
because its profession was lost its Vitruviano meaning like a combination of
liberal arts (no crafts) with the technique of the construction: Of this
Vitruviana equation to obtain an architect: Architectonic = Artist +
Constructor, the first term was replaced by ` Artisans, and the property to both
worlds (craftsmen and bricklayers or masons - masons notice that in English
bricklayer he is mason -) took to him to comprise of unions, specially, whose
meaning has changed from the original association of bricklayers to being,
nowadays, almost one religion. Masons that also had capacity to plan important
buildings, like cathedrals and universities, belonged to a superior class,
francmasones, the equivalent ones to the present architects, and they did not
belong to the unions of masons. (According to the Salvat encyclopedia). These
francmasones enjoyed freedom of movements and when they began a cathedral, for
example, (work for long short while) they founded a lodge or transitory
grouping. The word lodge meant "factory" of construction. Later francmasones
became an international organization, and fought by liberal causes, etc.,
etc.... that already is another history. |
