SANTIAGO CALATRAVA.
Architect born in 1951 in Benimamet (Valencia), professionally has carried out
all his activity in his studies of Architecture and Engineering of Paris and
Zurich. Considered a specialist in the design of bridges - although he has made
works of diverse types she is work author so known as the bridge the Alamillo
and the Pavilion of Kuwait in the Expo´92, both in Seville, or the tower of
communications of Montjuic, in Barcelona, and was one of the name ones to make
the reform of the historical building of the German parliament (Reichstag). In
1993, the prestigious Museum of Modern Art of New York (MOMA) dedicated a great
monographic exhibition to its work, as also it has been made in other numerous
cities of several countries.
Recently it inaugurated in Valencia a spectacular cinema and
planetarium, "L´Hemisferic", first building of the City of the Arts and
Sciences, and works also in the station of East, of Lisbon, the new airport of
Bilbao or the station of Lieja that will be the connection for the lines of high
speed of the center of Europe, among others. Member of Europe Akademie and the
Fazlur Rhaman Vihan International, has received a great number of distinctions,
like the prize August Perret, of the Union the International of Architects, the
international prize "Vereinigungg fur Brückenhan und Hochabn" of Switzerland,
