Claudius Caveri.
Claudius Caveri is born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1928; he is received from
architect in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of
Buenos Aires, in which later one evolves like educational of Introduction to the
Architecture and Architectonic Composition (1955/56). Between 1951 and 1958
associate with the architect works Eduardo Ellis. Jointly they develop to an
alternative architectonic proposal to the dominant current of the happened
rationalism the Style International. This proposal vindicates the expression of
the regionalist values, rescuing certain constructive traditions as well as the
materiality and to a certain extent the specialty of the native constructions.
All it, re-elaborated by means of a polished criterion of design reaches its
culminating point in the Church of Our Mrs. of Fátima, in Martinez, Prov. of
Buenos Aires.
The proposal generates, also the denominated current of the "white houses", call
thus by the escalade completion of the rubblework walls, and that knew its
height towards ends the decade 50'. Among them it deserves to stand out the
Urtizberea house, constructed in San Isidro in 1956. Caveri gradually develops
an ideary in which the Christianity and the experiences of the utópic socialism
converge, influenced by the thought of Teilhard de Chardin. It takes it to found
on 1958 the Community Earth, within which it continues developing his
professional activity, constructing the buildings of the same one with an
artisan and more and more distant criterion of the prevailing rationalism.
As well the contact with the humble settlers who surround the community -
situated in Colored person, Prov. of Buenos Aires, it gradually overturns it to
embrace the Peronism, which synthesizes with its Christian thought, conforming a
thought antiestablishment that characterizes its vision of the world and the
architecture. This vision is shaped in books like the social systems through the
architecture, popular Organization and Latin American architecture, and Fiction
and magical realism in our architecture. As of 1984 it acts in the public
function like Public Work secretary of the Municipality of Colored person, in
whom later it will happen to be designated secretary of Planning (1987/88). |
